History’s hidden truths

Written by Lorri Beveridge in 2020, this Yr 5/6 (Stage 3) is the result of a proud partnership between School Services Curriculum Advisors, the Maitland and Adamstown regional Aboriginal Education team, Stage 3 teachers and local AECG groups. It has a strong focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures and focuses on the English concepts of perspective and authority. Core texts include Mrs Whitlam (picture book), Young dark emu (nonfiction picture book), Alfred’s war (picture book) and opinion pieces from the Sydney Morning Herald (media texts). It is integrated with History, Geography, PDHPE, Science and Technology and Creative Arts.
